Tags and Hashtags

I personally think the most confusing thing about posting on Instagram and other social sites is the mystery language of tags and hashtags.

Instagram uses hashtags for a reason and I want to try and simplify this voodoo science for you. Disclaimer: I am, by no means, an expert on tagging but what I do know and have learned to use over the last few years, can help you. Ready? Let's go…

Adding a hashtag like #dancers to other pictures with the same hashtag. If you post a picture on IG (aka Instagram) with no tags it will show up in your account gallery and other people will see your post if they happen to catch it while scrolling through the news feed. Remember though, your picture is there along with thousands of other pictures posted every hour.

What if you wanted to show off your great black and white photography to other photographers who enjoy the same style of pictures that you do? You could use this hashtag: #blackandwhitephotography and
